1. Acceptance of Terms

By using Burnie, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. Service Description

Burnie is a calorie-deficit tracking and weight-loss projection tool. It:

  • Estimates your resting calorie burn (BMR) using the Mifflin-St Jeor formula based on your profile.
  • Tracks food intake and calculates daily calorie deficit.
  • Optionally reads resting energy, active energy, exercise sessions, steps and weight from Apple Health on iOS or Health Connect on Android. Health access is read-only and controlled by you.
  • Provides weekly and monthly weight-loss projections based on your deficit data.
  • Offers optional AI assistance (food estimation, photo/day parsing, and coaching) after explicit consent.

    • 3. Medical Disclaimer

    Burnie is NOT a medical device. It is a general wellness and fitness tracking tool.

  • Calorie estimates are approximations based on standard nutritional databases and AI inference.
  • BMR calculations use scientific formulas but individual metabolism varies.
  • Weight-loss projections are mathematical extrapolations, not medical predictions.
  • Consult a qualified medical professional before starting any weight-loss program, especially if you have pre-existing health conditions, are pregnant, or are under 18.

    • 4. User Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate profile information (age, sex, height, weight) — BMR accuracy depends on it.
  • Log food entries honestly — the deficit calculation is only as good as your logging.
  • Keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account.
  • Do not misuse the app (reverse engineering, scraping, automated access).
  • Academy comments must follow the Burnie Community Guidelines. You can report a comment, block its author, and delete your own comments.
  • Before posting your first Academy comment, you must accept the Terms and Community Guidelines. Comments are public to other signed-in Burnie members.

    • 5. Account & Termination

  • You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
  • Upon termination, your data will be erased per our Privacy Policy.

    • 6. Limitation of Liability

    To the fullest extent permitted by Indian law:

  • Burnie is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
  • We are not liable for any health outcomes, weight changes, or damages arising from your use of the app.
  • Our maximum liability is limited to the amount you have paid us (which is zero — the app is currently free).

    • 7. Governing Law

    These terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of courts in Delhi.

    8. Changes to Terms

    We will notify you of material changes via the app.
