The Mounjaro label says the same for tirzepatide: 'In both male and female rats, tirzepatide causes dose-dependent and treatment-duration-dependent thyroid C-cell tumors at clinically relevant exposures.' Saxenda says it for liraglutide. So the animal evidence is consistent and is the whole basis for the warning. But every label then adds the honest, qualifying sentence that matters most. Wegovy: 'It is unknown whether WEGOVY causes thyroid C-cell tumors, including medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), in humans' and 'the human relevance of semaglutide-induced rodent thyroid C-cell tumors has not been determined.' Mounjaro and Zepbound say the same in their own words. This is the key framing: the rodent signal is real, but whether it applies to humans has not been determined. Because of this signal, the labels draw a firm line. Wegovy is 'contraindicated in patients with a personal or family history of MTC or in patients with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).' The Mounjaro label says 'MOUNJARO delays gastric emptying and thereby has the potential to impact the absorption of concomitantly administered oral medications.' Zepbound and Saxenda say the same. Levothyroxine is an oral medicine, so its absorption can shift. Tell your doctor, separate the timing, and plan TSH checks.
