Orforglipron (Foundayo): the GLP-1 weight-loss pill
Orforglipron is a daily GLP-1 pill for weight loss, now approved in the US as Foundayo — no injection, no fridge. It is not yet sold in India, though India's drug panel has recommended it, so talk to your doctor and wait.
A GLP-1 medicine that is a simple pill — no pen, no needle. That is orforglipron. In April 2026 the United States approved it as Foundayo. It is the first GLP-1 weight-loss pill you take by mouth once a day. For India, this is exciting news. But you cannot buy it here yet.
What the trials showed before approval
Before approval, orforglipron was tested in big trials. The phase-2 study tested 272 adults for 36 weeks. People on the pill lost 9.4% to 14.7% of body weight. The phase-3 trial was called ATTAIN-1. It was huge — 3,127 adults across 10 countries, including India. After 72 weeks, the highest dose gave 12.4% weight loss, about 27 pounds. The safety was similar to injectable GLP-1 medicines — mostly mild stomach issues.
Pill vs injection: why this matters for India
Orforglipron is already available in Indian pharmacies.
mostly falsemostly false — explained simply. India's expert drug panel (CDSCO Subject Expert Committee) has recommended orforglipron for import and sale, but it is not yet formally approved or sold here. The panel noted the drug is already approved in the United States. Expect it in India around 2027 to 2028. Anything sold as 'orforglipron' in India right now is fake or illegal.
What to do right now
The bottom line
A real GLP-1 weight-loss pill now exists — once a day, by mouth, no fridge, no needle. It is approved in the United States as Foundayo, and India's drug panel has recommended it. But you cannot buy it in India yet. Talk to your doctor about what is available today, and do not buy fakes online.
