Privacy policy

1. Who is responsible

Big Helpers Software and Solutions Private Limited provides the Still Me application and is responsible for this policy. Privacy questions may be sent to admin@bighelpers.in.

2. What Still Me stores, and where

On your device, and synced to your own private iCloud database when iCloud is available — storage that belongs to your Apple Account and that we cannot read:

• your selfies, and the aligned thumbnails made from them;
• the date and time of each one, and the time zone you were in;
• any note you write on a day, and whether you marked it a favourite;
• your reminder time, your day boundary and your streak target;
• the alignment and quality values measured from each photograph, which travel with it; and
• the record of which days you rated against which.

On your device only, and never synced anywhere:

• the face readings Still Me computes from a selfie so it can line your eyes up between days; and
• one summary of each day's background, with the person masked out of the frame, used only to find the day a picture came from; and
• your taste scores, which are recomputed from your own ratings rather than stored as a judgement.

3. What Still Me never does

• It never sends your photos, notes, ratings or scores to Big Helpers or to any server we operate. Apple may sync the private iCloud diary records described above.
• It has no account and asks for no email address, name or phone number.
• It contains no analytics, no crash-reporting SDK, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.
• It does not record where you are. This version never asks for your location and never reads it.
• It does not read your photo library. It only ever adds to it, and only when you choose to save something.

4. The camera

Still Me uses the front camera to take one selfie a day. You always see a preview before anything is saved — the app cannot photograph you without showing you first, and every way of starting a capture opens the same screen with a countdown.

5. Face analysis

Still Me measures faces so that one day can be lined up with the next. That work happens entirely on your device, using Apple's on-device frameworks, and the readings are stored only on the device.

When Still Me describes a change between two days, it is limited to hair, facial hair, glasses, headwear and whether you were smiling. It does not assess health, and it is built so that it cannot: the description is generated into a fixed set of fields with nothing else in it, and a separate check rejects any wording outside that set before you see it. Deleting your data removes these readings along with the photographs.

6. Finding a day from a picture

From version 1.1 you can point Visual Intelligence at a picture and ask Still Me which day it came from. So that this works without sending anything anywhere, Still Me keeps one summary of each day's background. The person is masked out of the frame before the summary is made, so it describes the setting and not a face.

The summary is a set of numbers rather than words: it contains no description, it is never displayed to you or to anyone else, and it cannot be turned back into a photograph. Summaries are computed on your device, stored only on your device, never synced, and erased by Delete Everything along with the photographs. The picture you point Visual Intelligence at is held in memory for the length of the search and is never stored.

If you have turned the Face ID diary lock on, picture search returns nothing at all. Because the comparison is of backgrounds, Still Me can say that two days look like the same place; it does not tell you, or anyone else, who is in a picture.

7. Reminders

Reminders are scheduled on your device by iOS itself. There is no push server of ours, and no message about you leaves the device. Still Me can also show a countdown on your Lock Screen during your capture window; it never puts a photograph there.

8. iCloud

Your diary syncs through your own iCloud private database, so it reaches your other devices signed in to the same Apple Account. That storage is yours, governed by Apple's terms, and is not readable by us. Turning off iCloud stops ongoing sync; it is not a request to delete records already stored in iCloud.

9. Export and deletion

Both of these are in the app, under Where is my data?:

• Export everything — one archive with every photograph, note and date.
• Delete everything — deletes the local records, including face readings and taste scores, and saves the deletion of the synced diary records so that CloudKit propagates it to your private iCloud database when sync is available. It cannot be undone, so export first if you want a copy.

Because Big Helpers does not receive your diary, we cannot retrieve or delete it on your behalf.

10. Children, advertising and analytics

Still Me is not directed to children. It contains no advertising SDK, no behavioural advertising and no analytics SDK. Big Helpers does not create advertising profiles from Still Me use, and receives no diary data from any user through the app.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when Still Me's features or legal obligations change. The effective date above identifies the current version. A material change to how the app handles data will be reflected here before the corresponding app release.
